Johnson Bio

 

David and Lisa Johnson are currently serving as Global missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene on the Horn of Africa Field.   Since February 2011 they have been living in Nairobi, Kenya.  Their assignment with the field is managing the field office, coordinating ministerial education, Work and Witness, field finance, and other ministries from the Horn of Africa. 


Before joining the Horn of Africa Field, the Johnsons served on the island of Madagascar for 11 years where they worked predominately in the area of compassionate ministries.  David served as the director of compassionate ministries Madagascar, which included the street kids center located in the capital city of Antananarivo and served over 300 children daily.  Lisa served as coordinator of Child Sponsorship for Madagascar and homeschooled their two daughters Lauren, who is now attending Trevecca Nazarene University, and Amanda who lives with her parents in Kenya. 


David and Lisa are both graduates of Trevecca Nazarene University.  David graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Business with a minor in Biblical studies.  He later received a Masters of Arts in Religion from Trevecca.  David served on staff at Grace Church of the Nazarene in Nashville, TN as youth pastor for four years before becoming a missionary.   David was ordained on the Tennessee District in 1998.  Lisa received a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a certificate in Early Childhood from Trevecca.  She worked for Metro Nashville Public schools where she taught kindergarten for 14 years.
